The mobility market is undergoing massive change, and as such there are a number of areas of innovation - each with their own unique characteristics. Areas such as ride sharing are currently dominated by relatively new players such as Uber that have huge scale and funding requirements, while smart parking is typically served by young companies with a lot less funding than Uber. In contrast, infotainment is current mainly served by well-established players.
I believe this analysis of the industry can be very helpful in evaluating the areas where start ups are best equipped to enter the market. That being said, a space like vehicle to vehicle communication, currently served by established companies, could potentially be disrupted by startups with newer models.
This is an exciting space, and one where we expect to see a large number of startups have a very meaningful impact. It is also a space that Oxford Capital is heavily focused on.
