I met an interesting addition to the consulting landscape this week - Larry Kotch of Brainbroker. Beyond the funky name, he had a thought provoking premise that traditional Strategy Consulting models are outdated, verging on irrelevant.  We've all grown up to know and love our SWOT analysis, Porter's 5 forces etc, but these are relics of a pre-internet era. 

What is much more important for companies of all sizes and all sectors today is their approach to technology.  How are you engaging with customers? What is your mobile or big-data strategy? What tools are out there? What are your competitors doing? How will you spot the 'Uber' in your sector before it's too late?  

Many of our tech portfolio companies are creating really exciting and innovative tools to help other businesses do exactly this.
