The 2016 Most Innovative Countries report, published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation, ranks Switzerland at number one and the UK at number two. The US is listed at five, behind Sweden and the Netherlands. It is great to see the UK's innovation recognised. It can sometimes feel as though the UK is second-best to the US, but this report shows what a great position we are really in.
Switzerland topped the list, followed by the UK and Sweden. The Netherlands followed in close fourth and the US ranked fifth. The ranking is based on seven core elements including institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market and business sophistication, knowledge and technology tools, and creative outputs.
